(These posts originally took place on Mom's blog, but since she's been so busy to keep up with it, she's moving them here... thanks Mom!)Dear Sadie, my sweet girl, you are five months old today, and here's what I love about you...
That you have started raising your legs up when we change your diaper
You grab our lips and try and stick your hand in our mouths when we hold you
When I hold you at my shoulder and you try and "eat my face off"
How you've started opening your mouth wide when we feed you your cereal
You learned how to roll over! (And your dad and I both missed it!)
You keep trying to sit up when you're in your seat
You love to grab and pull hair (ok, so I don't really LOVE this one)
That dad and I finally learned how to use the swing - and you love it
When you swat at things hanging in front of you - like the laughing elephant on your car seat
How you want to stick everything in your mouth
Bringing in the new year with you sound asleep in your crib
That you'd rather sit-up (supported) like a big girl than lay down like a baby
That you have a really good night-time routine that starts at 7:30 - rice cereal, nursing, night-night
And because of this really good routine, you missed every single minute of the National Championship game
That you were the good luck charm for Alabama getting its 13th National Championship
Watching you swing and turn around in your Jenny Jumper
When you stretch out your arms to be held
You have started making "kissy" noises with your lips
That you're another month closer to "getting in trouble" with Grampa
When you make a weird "screeching" noise
You let us sleep in until 8:30 yesterday!
That you know how to purposely drop items, your "Quack Quack" softbook
You have found your feet, and love to grab them
How I can tell you're absorbing so many new things everyday
Your smiling face when we come get you out of your crib in the morning... this NEVER gets old
That you had a growth spurt and now only eat 4-5 times a day
Listening to Livvy carry on a conversation with you in the car after daycare one day - she loves you so much!
That sometimes you'll wake up in the middle of the night and actually go back to sleep on your own
You really know how to blow bubbles and razz
That you snore when you are in a deep sleep
Magically, you started "talking" one day when I came home from work
I know specific ways to make you giggle
How Mamaw says she's never seen a sweeter face
You laugh when I tickle you under your arms
Now that we don't swaddle you anymore, you're never in the same position in the morning that we left you in at night
You now sleep 10 hours straight at night, and even go 11, 12, and even 13 hours straight sometimes
You're adjusting to being held and watched by other people, especially when mommy and daddy have a date night
That the guys at the firehall love holding you (and giving Dad a hard time about everything!)
You are aware of Rascal and even reach out to pet him
Trying to figure out what you're thinking
How you bury your face in our chest when get really happy - like you're playing shy
That the ladies at daycare talk about how sweet you are
That for every one thing I've listed here, there's another ten things not listed here
That everyday you seem to do something totally new for me to be in awe about
My cousin Livvy sure does love me. We even go to school together now so she gets to see me during the day sometime. I love her too and can't wait until I'm a little older so we can play together!
Alabama won the National Championship last night (like you didn't know that already!)... I went to sleep right at kickoff, and slept until mom and dad woke me up at midnight to go home. They said they had a great time though... maybe the next one won't be another 17 years in the making so I can see it before I go off to college!
in my bumbo chair! I sit really well in it, and even when someone is supporting me. I've also been rolling over a lot more, from my back to my tummy... but watch out once I get on my tummy... I don't like it one bit!!
So I have been loving my rice cereal. Mom and Dad also introduced Oatmeal cereal and I love it too. I think I'm actually figuring the spoon out, although it's not quite as easy as a bottle. They take turns feeding me, and we make less and less of a mess each time. They even been giving me a little bit of 100% juice. Now that stuff is goo-oood!
So I am still hanging on to the long hair that I was born with... there are actually a couple but this is the longest one. Mom calls them Charlie Brown hairs. :)
